Putting it in perspective......The minds a crazy place..

No matter how many people hate on us, critique us, push us backwards, shut us down, air us out.....we always have our number one fans close by. We work hard in life and sometimes catch dirt in the chin, to protect our kin, to lead by example. To prove, not to ourselves the struggle is not to give up but is only a mere stepping stone to perfection. Practice progression not perfection and you too will find light in darkness of others and your endeavors.....till then keep progressin......

December 18
Philly DJ Day photo show rescheduled for tonight at Q-BaThursday, December 18th, 2008 at 12:31 pmposted by Deesha Dyer

After the first Philly DJ Day several months ago, lots of unofficial photos with the faces of Cash Money, Jazzy Jeff, ?uestlove, and many more past and present turntable junkies have been floating around the web. But tonight photographer and co-organizer Jonene Taddei will make it official.
On Nov. 14, she, along with friend and fellow photo phenom Snapkracker, were set to display some of their work at the Arts Garage. Surprisingly (not really), the Arts Garage got shut down that week (again). So Taddei scrambled for another venue and another date.
Tonight from 8 to 10 p.m. at Q-Ba (1176 N. Third St., Third and Girard), her Philly DJ Day pics, as well as some other shots she’s taken around the musical world, will be on exhibit for all to see. Snapkracker will also be showcasing his pictures of local personalities.
If you’re feeling inspired to shake your ass after seeing all the fly DJs featured (more than 200 were captured that day), stay a little later (9 p.m.-2 a.m.) and get down, get down to the sounds of Brendan BringEm. Cover is $5.
Official flyer after the jump.

Blah...Blah...Blog..It iz what it iz....

Dont you just hate it when people say it is what it is but thats just what it is. You hate to say it but we say it, we say it when we have explored all resources and we come up empty and finally accept our demise. I have three days to the show....some late hours at work and garbage to take out. I took a few minutes out of my busy schedule to meditate outside on my balcony overlooking the suburban forest...that damn trash ruined it..it keeps staring at me, maybe I'll take it out...enjoy the weather and avoid fair weather friends.....

Philly DJ Day Gallery show

The gallery show is next thursday, it's a showing of Jonene Taddei's work from DJ day, I will be displaying some new and old flicks..should be a good time and even heard there will be special guests. Don't think there shutting this one down, I did the holiday photos of the L and I, Ha Ha!.....

It's about change......

I orginally started this blog to document my journey, on trying to finish something I started 16 years ago. It's funny sometimes as artists we try so hard to portray images to either sell ourselves to our audiences, or to put sugar on our plain tasteless cheerios. The truth of the matter is it's when we accept ourselves for what we are and where were at is when opportunity usually knocks. I'm not looking for a pity party, I can accept tribulation, to be honest the catch phrase should read tribulations and trials, cause thats how it works. I woke up today knowing I would have to scrape up change for gas and tolls to get to work hence the photo. A wise man once said where your at is where you should be. The silver platter was given to me many years ago so now its back to the copper hustle......to all those people trying to live there dream keep trudging....

A man claims his success by simple addition of his superficial, cure for lonliness trophies. He bought these from borrowed money. A humble man has subtracted his ego and has created substanstance hand crafted puzzles, glue intact, to suppress his worries and live comfortably.........?

There is a reason for this season....

Guess you could say I'm in a holidaze...... But today woke me up. Me and the fam took my son to see Clause..pause... What put it in perspective was my son told Clause he wanted a Hess truck and his daddy a Cadillac, very nobel of a five year old. I'm not much materialistic these days because the paper beens chasing me. But my simple wish if I ever reap success would be to possess a Cadillac wearing a warm up suit. So If I ever start a band the name would be Cadillac Warm ups......dont steal the name, I got a patent on it...Heres some pixx from the event, note couldn't get any pixx of the big guy.

For all those nights that a DJ saved her life, photographer and bartender Jonene Taddei is returning the favor. In September, Taddei helped organize Philly's finest past and present DJs for a super-size photo shoot (more than 150 turntable junkies showed up) in Fairmount Park.

"I've always surrounded myself [with] people who love music as much as me. DJ Excel is a good friend, and one day we were shooting and came up with the idea," she says.

Combining her connections with DJ Jazzy Jeff's phonebook, the sign-up list started flowing with names like DJ Drama, ?uestlove, Too Tuff, Cash Money and DJ AM. (Unfortunately, a few days earlier, AM was in a plane accident and unable to make it, but he was there in spirit via DJ AM shirts that everyone wore for one of the pics.)

With a smile, Taddei says, "Philly DJs don't get the attention they deserve. Philly is known for their DJs. Some of the best in the country come out of here, so why not take a picture of them, right?"

At Friday's gallery exhibit, Taddei will be showcasing her photos from that historic day as well as pics from this year's VH1 Hip-Hop Honors award show. Fellow photographer and 18-year camera vet Snapkracker will also be exhibiting work, including shots of local ladies Taragirl and Patty Crash. Atmosphere after-gallery grooves for the evening will be provided by Steven Bloodbath and Brendan Bring 'Em.

Says Taddei, "DJs have kept me smiling for years through their music — I gave them a chance to smile back through my camera."
